Privacy Policy for AppLock Pro

Raza Khan ("we", "us", or "our") operates the AppLock Pro mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our App and the choices you have associated with that data.

AppLock Pro is designed with privacy as its foundational principle. AppLock Pro operates entirely offline. We do not collect, transmit, store, or share your personal data, PINs, biometric data, or app usage history on any external servers. All security functions happen locally on your device.

To provide its core locking functionality, AppLock Pro requires specific high-level Android permissions. Below is a detailed explanation of why these permissions are necessary and how the associated data is handled.

1. Permissions and Data Usage

A. Query All Packages (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES)

  • Why we need it: AppLock Pro needs to know what applications are installed on your device so that it can display a comprehensive list for you to choose which apps you wish to lock.

  • How data is handled: The list of your installed apps is processed locally on your device. We do not track your installed apps or send this list to any external servers.

B. Usage Data Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS)

  • Why we need it: This permission allows AppLock Pro to detect when a protected application is launched. This is the core trigger that tells our App to instantly display the lock screen over the protected app.

  • How data is handled: App usage data is monitored locally in real-time solely to trigger the lock screen. We do not log, record, or transmit your app usage history, the duration of your app usage, or any other usage metrics.

C. Device Administrator Privileges (BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN)

  • Why we need it: AppLock Pro uses the Device Administrator API strictly to activate "Uninstall Protection." This prevents unauthorized users or intruders from bypassing the app lock by simply uninstalling AppLock Pro from the device settings.

  • How data is handled: We do not use this privilege to alter your system settings, erase device data, or control your screen beyond the stated uninstall protection feature.

D. Display Over Other Apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW)

  • Why we need it: When a locked app is launched, AppLock Pro must draw its PIN or biometric lock screen on top of the launched app to prevent access.

E. Biometric and Fingerprint Hardware (USE_BIOMETRIC, USE_FINGERPRINT)

  • Why we need it: To allow you to unlock your protected apps quickly and securely using your device's built-in fingerprint scanner.

  • How data is handled: AppLock Pro does not access, read, or store your actual fingerprint or biometric data. We solely rely on the Android Operating System's secure biometric prompt, which simply returns a "Success" or "Failure" signal to our App.

F. Ignore Battery Optimizations (REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS)

  • Why we need it: Android operating systems aggressively pause background apps to save battery. AppLock Pro must run continuously in the background (via a Foreground Service) to ensure locked apps are protected at all times.

2. Data Retention

Because AppLock Pro does not transmit any data to our servers, there is no data for us to retain or delete. Your security preferences, chosen PIN, and the list of apps you have chosen to lock are saved locally on your device's internal storage using secure, encrypted preferences. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling the app will permanently delete these preferences from your device.

3. Third-Party Services

AppLock Pro is a standalone utility. We do not integrate with third-party tracking, analytics, or advertising frameworks that collect user data.

4. Children's Privacy

Our App does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. Because our App operates entirely locally, no children's data is ever transmitted to us.

5. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
